Choosing your wedding vendors

Congratulations on your engagement! You’re probably feeling a mix of excitement and maybe a little overwhelmed wondering where to start with planning your dream wedding.

A wedding planning checklist can be a great way to make sure that all your bases are covered when planning your big day. It can also help you to stay organised and on track, which is key when planning a wedding.

There are also many different wedding vendors you need to research, arrange quotes and ensure they all align with your wedding date. Here are some things to keep in mind when selecting your wedding vendors:

Venue

When planning your wedding, it's important to choose the right venue. There are many factors to consider, such as the size of the room, whether you want the ceremony at the same location as the reception, and whether you would like an indoor or outdoor ceremony.

If you are looking for a small ceremony space, you may consider a church or community hall. Church/community halls can often accommodate a few hundred guests. If you are looking for an outdoor ceremony space, consider choosing a park or public garden. These venues often have large lawns that can accommodate hundreds of guests, as well as areas that can be used for a cocktail reception.

Below are some tips for selecting the perfect wedding venue.

1: Consider your wedding venues size and layout. You'll also want to think about what kind of atmosphere you're looking for. Do you want a traditional ballroom or a more modern space?

2: Consider the price range. Wedding venues can range from very affordable to quite expensive. Do you have a specific budget in mind or are you willing to go a little bit more expensive?

3: Look at reviews. Wedding venues can be very popular, so it's important to make sure that you're getting a good deal before you book. Reading reviews can help you get an idea of previous couple’s experiences.

Celebrant

When choosing a celebrant, it is important to consider their experience and qualifications. Make sure to ask about their services and how they will approach your wedding.

We suggest that you meet your potential celebrants and choose the one who best meets your needs.

Flowers

When selecting wedding flowers, it's important to consider the style of your wedding. Some couples prefer traditional flowers like roses, lilies, or daisies; others might prefer more modern options like orchids or ferns. It's also important to consider the colour scheme of the wedding and the venue. If you are planning an outdoor wedding, you will want to choose flowers that will stand up in weather conditions.

Cake

When it comes to wedding cakes, there is no one right answer. It all comes down to personal preference. Some couples prefer a traditional cake with layers of cake and frosting, while others might prefer a more contemporary design with nontraditional ingredients.

Photographer and Videographer

When planning your wedding, it is important to choose the right professionals to capture all the memories of your big day. There are many different types of photographers and videographers out there, so it can be hard to decide which is the best option for you. Some factors you may want to consider include price, experience, and style. You should also consider if you want both photos and a video recording or is only one service required. Is live streaming important to allow for those that cannot attend to still join in your day?

Planning a wedding can be a lot of work. Remember to prioritise what’s most important to you and your partner, and to enjoy every moment of your special day. Best of luck to you both!

A huge thank you to Michelle and her team for capturing such a special day for our family. We are so pleased we decided to have our service filmed. It is a really nice thing to sit back and reflect on the video and take in all that I overlooked on the day, things I cannot remember but do appreciate, and I owe that to Michelle for capturing each moment so accurately.
